On the evening of Tuesday November 11th at 6:30pm come out and enjoy a free Veteran’s Day jazz performance by the Mirage Jazz Band at Pete Carlson’s Golf & Tennis back patio. Originally organized by saxophone leader and arranger Marty Lipson, this 11 piece group of talented musicians is led by trombonist John Leys, formerly a member of the Buddy Rich Band. This 2 hour concert will begin with the playing of the National Anthem and salute to our flag followed by an official color guard tribute to the 5 branches of the military service; Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard. The Mirage Jazz Band has played together for 15 years and regularly rehearses every Thursday at the Mission Hills Senior Living Center in Rancho Mirage. The band will play jazz favorites and popular standards from the Great American Song Book. The band members are Beverly Jensen vocals, Joe Leach and Jimmy Ogden trumpets, Rod McConnell, Joe Canoura, and Alex Roseff saxophones, John Leys trombone, John Tedder guitar, Milt Chapman bass, Alex Danson piano, and Jim Kerwin drums.
